The biggest line item most people underestimate is dining. Marco Island has excellent restaurants, but eating out every meal for 7 nights adds up fast. The condo's fully equipped kitchen is genuinely one of the best arguments for staying in a rental vs. a hotel — we stock it well and guests who cook even 3–4 dinners cut their food budget by $200–300 easily. Publix is on the island and surprisingly affordable.
Beach gear rental on Marco Island runs $30–50/day. We include a full beach kit with every stay: 4 chairs, umbrella, beach towels, and coolers with ice packs. That's $200–350 of gear available at the door. We also include pickleball paddles and tennis racquets for the resort courts. And the resort itself — two heated pools, two hot tubs, the waterfront docks — is covered in the stay with no resort fee.
Compared to Naples accommodations, Marco Island runs 10–20% lower for equivalent quality. Compared to Key West, it's significantly less expensive for better beaches and more privacy. Compared to Clearwater or St. Pete Beach, the quality of the natural environment — the dolphin activity, the 10,000 Islands access, the shelling — is genuinely superior and not reflected in the price premium.
