The drive from Orlando to Marco Island is approximately 3 hours under normal traffic conditions — about 185 miles. It's a straightforward, mostly highway route that drops you from Central Florida's busy tourist corridor into one of the most beautiful and serene beach destinations in the state.
Head west on I-4 toward Tampa. This section can have traffic — leave early morning or after 9am to avoid rush hour.
Pick up I-75 South near Tampa. This takes you straight through Southwest Florida's Gulf Coast corridor — smooth, fast, and scenic.
Take Exit 101 (CR 951 / Collier Blvd) south toward Marco Island. You're now about 20 minutes from the island.
A single bridge connects Marco Island to the mainland. Cross it and you're on one of Florida's most beautiful barrier islands.
Just 20 minutes north of Marco Island. 5th Avenue South has excellent shopping and lunch stops if you're making a full day of the journey.
Off I-75 north of Naples — Florida's largest state park, with alligators visible from the road bridge. Worth a quick stop for nature lovers.
Just south of Fort Myers on your way down — beautiful beaches and a much less crowded alternative for a midday stop.
